Gold, Oil, and Wisdom

The multitude of crises in the world today is very concerning to many people.  Concern is normal unless one is completely disconnected from reality and from compassion for those who are hurting.  But for those who know the Lord, that concern does not mean hopelessness.   I have found that I can always have hope if my trust is in the Lord.   We can't deny that there are some real problems out there at this time, but this is the time for those who know their God to be strong.  We're to be the connecting point for the hopeless.  We connect them to the God of all hope.  The current events of our day should definitely motivate us to seek our God.   At a time when financial analysts talk about the rising price of commodities, there is one commodity for which the price and value has and will always be above all.  Like physical commodities such as grain, oil, copper, and natural gas, this commodity has tangible benefit.   I'm speaking of wisdom.
Recently, I  spent some time with the Lord where my  focus was just to worship Him as Wisdom.   After I did this, I noticed something that happened in the days that followed.  Suddenly, I had ideas about things I had never thought of before.  I had answers and solutions to problems, conflicts and issues that I'd been dealing with for some time.   Several things that I had needed that I hadn't been able to find, I was able to locate in matter of a few days.  It made me question why I've ever done anything without seeking wisdom first from the Lord.  It wasn't just that I was glad to have fresh understanding, knowledge and insight.  It was that the Lord was giving me a fresh revelation of Himself.
There isn't anything a person could desire that would compare to this wisdom that Proverbs 8 speaks about.   I'm not speaking of an ethereal kind of wisdom.  I'm really talking about being in awe of Him who knows absolutely everything, Who has answers that no man has, Who can speak one word and everything is changed.   It's not the wisdom of knowing everything, but knowing you don't know, and connecting to the One who does.   Did you know the Lord is the Wisdom spoken of in Proverbs 8?   It's not just that He gives us wisdom,  He IS our wisdom.
Does this strike a chord with you?  Are you seeking Him for wisdom to the problems in your family, community, or maybe even your country?  I'd love to hear from you and to hear your thoughts.

  1. Thank you Laura for opening my eyes wider than before with your words of wisdom. Your writing style is very engaging. What struck me most in Proverbs 8 as I read it again with your words was this part of your writing..."It's not the wisdom of knowing everything, but knowing you don't know, and connecting to the One who does." More often than not we think of wisdom as "knowing". You've done an incredible work in helping understanding that wisdom is also in having the awareness that we don't know everything and that God is our source and he is all knowing. I know this may sound elementary, but we often think that we are the wise person because of life experiences, education and relationships with other. What is truly remarkable is having the spirit of wisdom to seek HIM first. Blessings and thank you for encouraging me when I hear your voice and read HIS Word. Brother Ben
